Difference between "envisage" and "imagine"

Envisage
"Envisage" means to expect that something will happen in the future. The usual word for this in American English is "envision".
  • I don't envisage working with him again.
  • I envisage a day when proper health care will be available to everyone.

Imagine
"Imagine" means to form a picture in your mind of something that is not present or real.
  • He asked us to imagine a world without poverty or war.
  • I can imagine him really angry.
